“Our healing is not the same; some of us will move more quickly, an overnight blooming in a sense. Others of us will take a little longer, slowly working through the pace our bodies, minds, and souls need. For the latter, it may get disheartening, as it seems like we don’t see any change at all, and peel our eyes on our own inner branches, looking for any sign of spring.”
We can put pressure on ourselves to “heal faster.” To push through the pain to get back to feeling better. But our bodies do not take too kindly to rushing through the healing experience. For feeling what is hard, for going through the hard in order to help process as it needs to.
You and I have permission to honor the pace our body and soul requires. It may feel like it’s going too slow, but we can’t rush the deeper work that God is doing within. Because a deeper work is indeed happening, slow and steady. Whatever the pace of healing you need, allow it. You are still growing. We are all healing at our own rate, and it’s OK. Embrace the slow growth. Trust that God is working in greater ways than we realize. And pay attention to the tiny steps of healing you may notice one day that seems out of the blue; you may realize those were the biggest signs of all.
