From John 6:35
We are consuming
what poisons us.
but we are hungry, Lord,
and looking for what will fill us.
Anything we can swallow,
we shovel into our mouths.
We are rotting from the
inside-out, never full.
You say You are
the Bread of Life,
that those who come to You
will never be hungry.
Lord,
we long to have
our hunger pains diminish,
our bellies and hearts
satisfied
with the nutrients of life.
Teach us
what it is to eat
of Your Word.
To come to You
for the daily bread
we desire,
and linger at the table,
appreciative and awed.
