After this storm has passed,
I want to be standing
at the shoreline
with grains of sand settling
between my toes,
testing the waves rolling
to me, calm and settled
in mind and spirit.
I want to smile
when the clouds darken,
sense the crackle of electricity
invisible in the air,
scent of rain heady
and generous.
When the next storm comes,
may my arms outstretch
and voice find a way
to sing out,
and the presence of peace
steady within as I withstand
what comes.
